VRST Men’s Cold Weather Performance Pants
Our cold weather performance pants are engineered for athletes who refuse to let dropping temperatures derail their training. We built these pants with a fleece-lined interior that traps warmth without adding bulk, while the 4-way stretch outer layer moves with every stride, squat, and sprint.
The moisture-wicking fabrication pulls sweat away from your skin during high-intensity sessions, and articulated knees ensure unrestricted range of motion whether you’re running intervals or working through mobility drills. Reinforced stitching at high-stress points means these pants hold up to daily wear through the coldest months of the year.
Zippered ankle cuffs make it easy to pull them on over running shoes, and the secure zip pockets keep your phone and keys in place during movement. We designed these for versatility—wear them for outdoor runs, cold-weather commutes, or layering under shell pants on the mountain.
Technical specs for cold-weather training

Fabric technology & thermal construction
We engineered these pants with a dual-layer system that balances warmth and breathability. The outer shell uses a tightly woven polyester-spandex blend treated with DWR coating to resist wind and moisture. Inside, a brushed fleece lining traps body heat in tiny air pockets while maintaining the soft hand feel you want against your skin.
The 4-way stretch construction means the fabric moves horizontally and vertically, eliminating the binding you often get with traditional cold-weather pants. We tested dozens of fabric weights before landing on this 280gsm blend—thick enough to block wind chill, light enough to avoid overheating during tempo runs.

Sizing & fit guide
These pants run true to size with a modern athletic fit—tapered through the leg without feeling restrictive. The waistband sits at natural waist height and features an interior drawcord for fine-tuning the fit.
We recommend ordering your usual size for a fit that layers comfortably over base layers. If you prefer a looser fit or plan to wear thick underlayers, size up one increment. The articulated knees are pre-shaped to match natural leg position, so there’s no fabric bunching when you bend or squat.
Care & maintenance instructions
Machine wash cold with similar colors using mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners, which can break down the moisture-wicking treatment and reduce the DWR coating’s effectiveness.
Tumble dry on low heat or hang to dry—high heat can damage the stretch fibers over time. The fleece lining may pill slightly after the first few washes; this is normal and doesn’t affect thermal performance.

Cold weather performance pant questions
These pants are engineered for temperatures between 20°F and 45°F, depending on your activity level. For high-intensity training like running or cycling, they work well as a single layer down to about 25°F. For lower-output activities or temperatures below 20°F, we recommend layering them over lightweight base layer tights.
The fleece lining provides enough insulation for most winter outdoor training without requiring additional underlayers in the 30-40°F range.
Absolutely. While we designed them with runners in mind, the 4-way stretch and articulated knees make them ideal for any cold-weather activity that requires mobility—cycling, hiking, outdoor gym sessions, yoga, or even casual wear.
The tapered fit and zippered ankle cuffs work well for layering under shell pants for skiing or snowboarding. The DWR coating sheds light precipitation, so they’re versatile enough for variable winter conditions.
These have a modern athletic fit that’s more tailored than traditional sweatpants. They’re tapered through the leg with a fitted (but not tight) silhouette that eliminates excess fabric.
The 4-way stretch construction means they move with you despite the closer fit. If you prefer a looser, more relaxed fit similar to sweatpants, we recommend sizing up one increment. The interior drawcord allows you to fine-tune the waist for a custom fit.
The pants feature a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish that sheds light rain, snow, and moisture. They’re water-resistant, not waterproof—they’ll keep you dry in light precipitation or brief exposure to wet conditions, but they’re not designed to replace rain pants in heavy downpours.
The DWR coating causes water to bead up and roll off the fabric surface rather than soaking in. This treatment can be refreshed after 15-20 washes using heat reactivation or spray-on DWR products.
Yes, the hand pockets feature YKK zippers that stay closed during activity, and the pockets are sized and positioned to hold a smartphone securely without bouncing. We tested them with phones up to 6.5″ during running and plyometric training.
The left thigh also has a smaller zippered pocket sized for keys, cards, or gels. All zippers are easy to operate even with cold hands or while wearing gloves.
Machine wash cold with mild detergent and avoid fabric softeners, which break down the moisture-wicking treatment. Tumble dry on low heat or hang to dry—high heat can damage the stretch fibers.
Slight pilling of the fleece lining after the first few washes is normal and doesn’t affect thermal performance. To maintain the DWR coating’s effectiveness, avoid washing more frequently than necessary. Spot-clean minor marks when possible to extend time between full washes.
The pants are designed to work as either a standalone layer or part of a layering system. The 4-way stretch accommodates lightweight base layer tights underneath without feeling restrictive, making them suitable for extreme cold below 20°F.
The tapered leg design also fits easily under shell pants or ski pants for alpine activities. For most winter training in the 25-45°F range, they provide enough insulation to wear as a single layer over underwear.
